United for the Heroes of Battle Monument School

Supporting the students, families, staff, and community of Battle Monument School through visibility, advocacy, involvement, and action.

More Than a School. A Community Worth Showing Up For.

Battle Monument School is a Baltimore County Public Schools special school serving students whose educational programs require highly individualized support. Its approach brings academics together with communication, functional life skills, social and emotional growth, and greater independence.

Guardians of Battle Monument exists to help make sure this extraordinary school community is seen, supported, and connected to the people and resources around it.

INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT

Battle Monument serves students whose educational programs require highly individualized instruction, support, and specialized services designed around each student’s needs.

COMMUNICATION & INDEPENDENCE

Learning goes beyond traditional academics. Students work on communication, functional life skills, social and emotional growth, mobility, and greater independence.

FAMILIES + SCHOOL + COMMUNITY

Progress happens when families, staff, and the community work together. Battle Monument focuses on meaningful growth that carries into school, home, and everyday life.

WE DIDN’T JUST ENTER A PARADE.
WE PUT BATTLE MONUMENT ON THE MAP.

The Battle Monument Express started as an idea and became something much bigger. Eight passenger wagons, a utility wagon, shade, fans, sound equipment, a generator, safety accommodations, volunteers, families, and an enormous amount of determination came together to make sure Battle Monument was represented in the community.

Even in extreme summer heat, families and supporters showed up. The response continued after the parade, with roughly $2,365 raised within about 48 hours.

But the impact wasn’t only about fundraising. People saw Battle Monument. They asked questions. They learned about the school. They met the families and community behind it.

That is what Guardians is about: making Battle Monument visible, bringing people together, and turning attention into action.
